It all started when…

Javier and Jackie Garcia Knight applied to the council to open this home to the public by developing a restaurant, and a demonstration fruit & vegetable garden in partnership with the Friends of the Botanic Gardens in 1998. In June 2000, the restaurant opened its doors serving traditional cuisine from Javier’s home country of Spain, with fresh local produce supplemented by the goods from the garden. Visitors are encouraged to wander through the building and its garden, and enjoy summer dining al fresco in the garden or fireside in winter.
